Sunstreaker could charitably be called a consummate egotist. Like his brother Sideswipe, he's got a high opinion of himself - he believes he is the most beautiful thing on Earth. Sunstreaker is incredibly vain, spending a huge amount of his time preening and buffing his paint to a mirror sheen. A frequent topic of discussion when Sunstreaker is around are his sleek lines and his aerodynamic styling - but any topic which is about how good he looks is fair game. He's been known to put his part in a mission on hold to give bystanders an opportunity to admire how good he looks. Those who don't know Sunstreaker too well think he is incredibly self-absorbed, but otherwise an amiable enough character. Anyone arriving at this conclusion is overlooking what an incredibly two-faced individual Sunstreaker is. While he's friendly enough to the faces of his fellow Autobots, he'll criticise and point out their every fault the moment their backs are turned - Bumblebee is a frequent target of his verbal teardowns. The only one Sunstreaker doesn't treat with complete and utter contempt is his brother Sideswipe, but even then Sunstreaker isn't shy about commenting on his brother's faults, particularly Sideswipe’s use of dirty tricks and overall recklessness, which Sunstreaker says is an “inherent lack of style”. But behind Sunstreaker’s vanity lies one of the deadliest, most efficient and outright ruthless Autobots under Optimus Prime’s command. When Sunstreaker starts fighting, his entire demeanour changes, and he becomes a cold, merciless warrior who is more than a match for even the most lethal of Megatron’s Decepticon elite. Sunstreaker’s confirmed kill count – and his borderline sociopathic attitude – could earn him a spot in the Autobots’ elite combat unit, the Wreckers, if he were so inclined. But in spite of his clear talent for combat, Sunstreaker doesn’t enjoy fighting. The battlefield is a perfect place to scratch paintwork or pick up dents – things which Sunstreaker tries to avoid at all costs.

Masterpiece Sunstreaker is a release that really represents a turning point in the Masterpiece line for me. He was the first of the Masterpiece cars to run at a noticeably higher cost and involve a much more complicated transformation, with extra features like the rear-mounted engine folding away and the vehicle mode blaster Sunstreaker used in that one scene being included. On the one hand, this showed a much greater attention to detail and engineering than the earlier releases, but it also brought a lot more complexity and moving parts. I don't dislike Sunstreaker - he's a fantastic definitive version of the character - but he's also the absolute upper limit of complexity for me.
